Meghan Markle cradled her baby bump and showed off her calligraphy skills during a visit to a nursing home in her last royal public appearance before Christmas.

The 37-year-old Duchess of Sussex chatted with residents at the Royal Variety residential nursing and care home Brinsworth House in Twickenham, England, on Tuesday.

"The Royal Variety Charity, of which The Queen is Patron, assists those who have worked professionally in the entertainment industry and are in need of help and assistance as a result of old age, ill-health, or hard times," Kensington Palace wrote in a tweet.

It was a fitting assignment for Markle, who starred on "Suits" and was a briefcase girl on "Deal or No Deal" before marrying Prince Harry in May 2018.

The Duchess told one resident that she's doing "very good … very pregnant."

Markle made Christmas ornaments with residents and flaunted the calligraphy skills she used while she worked at Paper Source before her acting career took off.

The visit comes after Markle's appearance at the British Fashion Awards, where the Duchess received backlash for her habit of cradling her baby bump.

Markle and Prince Harry announced in October that they're expecting their first child.

The baby is due in spring 2019.

Meghan Markle’s half-sister Samantha Markle slams royal Christmas card

Meghan Markle’s half-sister slammed the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s Christmas card, which featured the backs of the royal couple as they watched fireworks on their wedding day.

Samantha Markle criticized the Christmas card pointing out it was the only photo among those released not showing the faces of the royals, E! News reported. The never-before-seen photo was taken the night of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s nuptials in May.

"Interesting that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have their backs turned. Is this towards the world or just the Ragland and Markle family? It's a bit sad. Face the Christmas spirit,” Samantha Markle tweeted through her private Twitter account shortly after the photos were released.

The palace released the official Christmas cards on Friday.

Prince William and Kate Middleton were pictured with their three children — George, Charlotte and Louis — posing by a tree. Prince Charles and Camilla Bowles’ card showed them sitting on a bench while they gazed into each other’s eyes.

Markle continued her tirade against her half-sister on Saturday, calling the Christmas card “incredibly rude.”

"It's incredibly rude to turn your back in a Christmas photo that is meant to share warmth and good wishes with the world. Those that criticize me for pointing out the truth, need to get that brown stuff off their noses. I hear the worlds smallest violin playing,” she wrote on Twitter.

She said in another tweet, “If you want to be private you don't do it on a Christmas card but the world sees. That's like saying merry Christmas look at my butt.”

Markle returned to criticizing the duchess two months after attempting to extend an olive branch. Markle told The Sun in October, shortly after Meghan Markle’s pregnancy announcement, that “a baby changes everything” and she wants her sister “to be happy.”

“It just makes everything that happened over the last year disappear. I want Meghan to be happy and calm and have peace. Everybody needs to be positive,” Markle told The Sun. “I would hope that — for the sake of the baby, the family, the world and my dad — that leaving him out of the statement was not intentional.”

But later that month, Markle claimed the duchess lied in her speech in Fiji when she said she paid her way through college with the help of scholarships and financial aid programs.

Meghan Markle inspires Prince Harry to opt out of decades-old royal holiday tradition: report

Prince Harry is reportedly choosing not to participate in a decades-old holiday tradition with his brother Prince William this year as a sign of respect to his new bride Meghan Markle.

The 34-year-old royal is skipping his family's annual Boxing Day pheasant shoot — something he has done for at least 20 years — because of Markle's love of animals, according to the Daily Mail. Markle has apparently always been passionate about wildlife and does not support hunting.

In May, PETA praised Markle, 37, for her vegan-friendly lifestyle, including her opposition to fur and leather.

"By choosing to oppose fur and leather, Markle is actively helping to stop the global skins trade. Whether it came from an animal on a fur farm or one who was trapped in the wild, every fur coat, trinket, and bit of trim caused an animal tremendous suffering — and took away a life," PETA wrote in a blog post.

Harry allegedly skipped last year's hunt as well because of Markle.

“He hardly ever misses the shoot but he loves her so much," a royal insider told the Mirror, adding it looks like Harry's "shooting days are over."

"She’s a keen animal lover and likes to eat vegan during the week and she has a strict no-fur policy. She has also been encouraging Harry to eat less meat and more fruit and veg and is now keen to fully convert him to her views on hunting," another source added to the British tabloid.

Sources say it's just the latest example that proves the brothers are "drifting" apart, despite the palace's recent denial of any problems between the royal families.

In early December, Kensington Palace issued a rare statement shutting down a report in The Sun about an alleged argument between Markle and Kate Middleton.

"This never happened," a Kensington Palace spokesman said in response.

While Harry may skip the traditional hunt, the pair is still expected to participate in a handful of other royal holiday traditions — such as stepping on the scale after eating Christmas dinner and swapping funny gag gifts on Christmas Eve.

"The royals are of German descent so they weave in German traditions to their celebrations," former royal chef Darren McGrady previously told Express, noting Germans typically open presents on Dec. 24. "After afternoon tea, they open gifts on Christmas Eve, as is the German tradition."

Meghan Markle ‘fed up’ with Kate Middleton feud rumors: report

Meghan Markle is finding it “frustrating and stressful” that she has “no voice” against a barrage of bad headlines, a new report has claimed.

The pregnant Duchess of Sussex is said to be “fed up” that royal protocol means she isn’t allowed to “stand up for herself”, US Weekly reports.

Since it was announced she and Prince Harry were moving out of Kensington Palace, multiple reports have claimed Meghan is responsible for a rift between the two brothers and had been “demanding” towards staff.

Apart from denying that Kate reprimanded Meghan for giving out to her staff, Kensington Palace has refused to comment on mounting reports of a division between the Cambridges and Sussexes.

That Meghan can’t stand up for herself using social media has proved frustrating and has left Harry feeling the pressure too, US Weekly claims.

“She’s always relied on her own voice to stand up for others, and for herself. So not being able to say anything is a debilitating feeling,” a source told the magazine.

“She’s always been so independent, her entire life, and that’s all been taken away from her. She’s always been able to clap back on social media and now she can’t.”

In the months before her marriage to Harry, Meghan shut down her Instagram and Twitter, with Hello! magazine reporting working royals aren’t allowed to have their own social media accounts.

But minor non-working royals are permitted to have them, with Princess Eugenie opening a public Instagram account this year.

Before her relationship with Harry Meghan was an avid social media user, posting on everything from politics to glamorous overseas holidays.

Earlier this week, a candid boomerang-style post of Meghan at the British Fashion Awards was mysteriously wiped from Instagram.

A photo of Meghan at the awards posted by her best friend and stylist Jessica Mulroney was also deleted.

Meghan Markle, Prince Harry, Prince William and Kate Middleton debut Christmas card photos

‘Tis the season for Christmas card photos and the British royals did not disappoint.

The Kensington Palace released a black and white photo of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle on their wedding day. The shot, taken from behind, shows the couple staring at a full sky of fireworks.

“The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are delighted to share a new photograph from their Wedding Reception at Frogmore House on 19th May,” the Kensington Palace tweeted Friday. “The photograph, which features on Their Royal Highnesses’ Christmas card, was taken by photographer Chris Allerton.”

Markle was wearing her Stella McCartney reception dress in the photo while cradling her arm around her husband’s waist. The couple is expecting their first child in the spring.

Meanwhile, the palace tweeted the adorable family photo of Kate Middleton, Prince William, with their children; George, Charlotte and Louis. The family is casually posing on a tree branch on a sunny day.

“The photograph, taken by Matt Porteous, shows The Duke and Duchess with their three children at Anmer Hall, and features on Their Royal Highness’ Christmas card this year,” the Kensington Palace tweeted.

On Christmas, the British royals will spend the day at Sandringham Estate in Norfolk, United Kingdom, with Queen Elizabeth II, People reported.

Meghan Markle’s British Fashion Awards photo booth video mysteriously removed from Instagram account

Meghan Markle posed for a rare photo booth gif during Monday night’s British Fashion Awards, but the video mysteriously disappeared from one Instagram account.

The British Fashion Council, the organization behind the Fashion Awards, posted a fun photo booth snap of the Duchess of Sussex cradling her baby bump while posing alongside Givenchy’s artistic director Clare Waight Keller and “Gone Girl” star Rosamund Pike. The post was up on its Instagram page Tuesday, but by Wednesday morning the black-and-white video was removed.

The organization, instead, kept another post of Markle presenting Keller with the British Designer of the Year award.

It’s unclear why the post was removed from its Instagram page. Fox News’ request for a statement from the British Fashion Council was not immediately returned.

The gif has been shared with other fan accounts and is still up on event photographer Yvan Fabing’s Instagram.

Members of the royal family usually do not pose for photos unless done by an official royal photographer. Markle deleted her personal Instagram and Twitter accounts in January ahead of her marriage to Prince Harry. Kensington Palace said Markle decided to shut the accounts down because she hasn’t used them “for some time.”

However, there appears to be an unspoken rule that active members of the royal family should not have personal accounts. The palace has several accounts that share official photos of the royal family.

Markle broke another royal tradition Monday night when she wore dark nail polish to complement her asymmetrical black Givenchy dress. Although it’s not an official protocol, it’s widely known Queen Elizabeth II does not approve of colorful nail polish on members of the royal family, U.K.’s OK! Magazine previously reported.

Meghan Markle’s baby bump cradling sparks Twitter backlash

Meghan Markle sparked a global debate about baby bump cradling after her surprise appearance at the British Fashion Awards this week.

The Duchess of Sussex, 37, posed in a way at the style-centered event that some interpreted as hammy and others as maternal, as she presented an award to her wedding dress designer, Givenchy artistic director Clare Waight Keller.

"Cupping the bump? WHOB DOES THIS? #MeghanMarkle who the hell does she think she is Madonna and child? Something VERY creepy going on in this woman's head," one user wrote.

"#MeghanMarkle holding on to that bump like someone’s about to snatch it," another quipped.

"Seriously, no pregnant woman poses for photo like this. Ever. She's such an actress. #MeghanMarkle #duchessofsussex #BritishFashionAwards #actingup," another wrote, adding, "Especially when you're a royalty [sic] … She should learn from Kate on how to pose regally when pregnant. Both hands discretely [sic] under the bump. Not cradling like Demi Moore. #Crasspregnancy #MeghanMarkle."

Others were equally critical:

Others simply pointed out the absurdity of both the pose and the obsession with it, including an account dubbed @MarkleBabyBump.

Others defended the former "Suits" starlet, pointing out that pregnancy is inherently uncomfortable and that there's nothing wrong with cradling the tiny, living human being in her body.

Her bump wasn't the only controversial aspect of Markle's appearance at the BFAs: She also broke royal protocol with her dark manicure.

Meghan Markle breaks royal tradition again at British Fashion Awards

Meghan Markle made a surprise appearance at the British Fashion Awards on Monday wearing a sleek one-shoulder black Givenchy dress — but it was her nail color that made headlines.

The Duchess of Sussex appeared at the awards show to present her wedding dress designer and Givenchy’s artistic director, Clare Waight Keller, the British Womenswear Designer of the Year award. Markle styled her baby bump-hugging velvet black dress with gold bracelets, metallic Tamara Mellon sandals and dark nail polish.

Her dark-colored nails caught many people’s attention because, although it’s not an official protocol, it’s widely known Queen Elizabeth II does not approve of colorful nail polish on members of the royal family, U.K.’s OK! Magazine previously reported.

Fake or colored nails are reportedly seen as “vulgar” in the royal family and wearing a more neutral shade is part of the royal etiquette.

Essie revealed the queen’s hairdresser sent the nail polish brand a letter in 1989 requesting the shade “Ballet Slippers,” a pale pink color with a sheer finish.

“[It’s] the only color Her Majesty would wear,” the brand stated.

Aside from the occasional red nail polish on her toes, Kate Middleton is usually seen donning neutral nail shades, following the unofficial protocol that’s been put in place.

Markle is known to make bold fashion choices that do not follow the royal protocol. She made headlines last November when she and Prince Harry stepped out for a photocall following their engagement announcement and was seen without nude tights. The royal family has a policy of women wearing pantyhose at official engagements.

“I would say that’s really the only hard, steadfast rule in terms of what the queen requires,” royal expert Victoria Arbiter said.

The Duchess of Sussex was first spotted with pantyhose at a party for Prince Charles’ 70th birthday in May, just days after she tied the knot.

Markle also broke royal protocol when she wore a Carolina Herrera dress that exposed her shoulders at her first Trooping the Colour. The tradition is for royal members to wear dresses that cover their shoulders.

Meghan Markle to take part in Queen Elizabeth’s ‘non-negotiable’ Christmas Day tradition

Meghan Markle is warming up to the royal family's holiday traditions — and Christmas may be the most festive of them all.

The Duchess of Sussex and her husband, Prince Harry, will likely head to the Sandringham House, Queen Elizabeth II's private country home in Norfolk, England, to wrap up the holiday season with close family. Markle's mother, Doria Ragland, is also expected to join her new relatives.

From stepping on the scale before and after finishing Christmas dinner to waiting for teatime on Christmas Eve to open presents, Markle will be expected to follow several bizarre customs this year. Some of these routines date back a century while others are simply enforced by Queen Elizabeth.

Some families may watch Christmas classics such as "A Christmas Story" or "It's a Wonderful Life" on Christmas Day, but Queen Elizabeth reportedly has her own favorite holiday program: popular British soap opera "EastEnders."

"The Queen loves EastEnders, and every Christmas, without fail, the telly goes on and the strains of the show’s distinctive theme tune bellow out," a "family insider" recently revealed to The Sun. “It is an unlikely family tradition, and non-negotiable — even more so than watching the Queen’s speech!

The show, which airs on the BBC, centers around "working class inhabitants of Albert Square" in London, according to a description on IMDB.

Many have been joking the former "Suits" star may have a hard time following the show's dialogue.

“Obviously a couple of jokes have already been made about switching on the subtitles this year," the source told The Sun. "Meghan’s not too familiar with rhyming slang, so it promises to be a rather bemusing night.”

While this will be Markle's first official Christmas with her in-laws following her marriage to Harry in May, the American has already participated in holiday events with the royals.

Roughly a month after her engagement to Harry, Markle joined the royal family to celebrate Christmas. In fact, that's when she was officially welcomed into the family by Queen Elizabeth.

Markle joining the royal family during Christmas (her first public outing with the family) was unusual because new members are usually invited to holiday events only after they are married, according to The Telegraph. Kate Middleton was only welcomed into the family after she married William.

Markle was spotted walking next to Middleton as she held Harry’s arm while arriving at St. Mary Magdalene Church in Sandringham for a traditional Christmas service in 2017.

Meghan Markle’s dad claims he hand-delivered a letter to her mom asking why he was shut out

Meghan Markle's father, Thomas, is once again trying to publicly reconnect with his daughter.

The pregnant Duchess of Sussex has been on the outs with her dad for quite some time now, but the 74-year-old retired TV lighting director is done with being ignored, and has even asked his ex-wife, Doria Ragland, why Meghan is putting up "a wall of silence."

“I have been frozen out and I can’t stay silent,” Thomas told the Mail on Sunday in an interview published on Saturday. “I have made dozens of attempts to reach my daughter via text and letters, but she and Harry have put up a wall of silence.”

Meghan Markle's Father Thomas Speaks Out About Her Pregnancy For the First Time

"Everyone says, 'Why don’t I just shut the f**k up? That Meghan can’t speak to me because I’ll give away secrets.' But that’s bulls**t. I’ve been accused of every terrible thing you can think of," he continued, adding that he's sent several texts. "Her number hasn’t changed and they haven’t bounced back."

Thomas, who says he hasn't spoken with Meghan since after her wedding, was involved in a staged paparazzi photo scandal prior to his daughter's nuptials. He then gave several negative and public paid interviews in which he bashed the royal family and Prince Harry. He later vowed to never disrespect his daughter and her husband by making any more negative remarks.

Now that the holidays are upon us, Thomas has even reached out to Meghan's mother, asking for her help.

Meghan Markle Is Getting a Musical About Her Life

“I’ve pleaded with her to pick up the phone. I wrote her a two-page letter and sent it by certified mail via her representative in Los Angeles. I asked her why she was believing the lies,” Thomas explained. “I even hand-delivered a letter to Doria asking her why our daughter won’t speak to me."

“If she would just speak to me, things could be different,” he continued. “I love Meghan very much. I want her and Harry to have a beautiful, healthy baby and a great life. But I want them to stop believing the lies.”

This new interview is the first one since October, when Thomas spoke about his daughter's pregnancy for the first time.

Kate Middleton Says Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Having a Baby 'Is Very Special'

At the time, he explained how he didn't want "anyone to feel sorry for me" about finding out about the pregnancy on the radio. "Me not getting a call is most likely a misunderstanding about my two back-to-back heart attacks and me missing the wedding," he said at the time. "There has been so much misinformation and lies that perhaps made them mistrust me."
