The days of finding out your unborn child’s sex from a trained doctor or hospital are long gone, as people now demand to learn the baby’s gender via alligator, explosion, or taking a baseball square in the face (above).

Well, some people, at least.

Gender-reveal parties seem to be getting wilder with each passing year. But some couples are a little more creative than others, and a few aren’t afraid to get a little reckless at times.

Keep reading for a look back at the wildest gender-reveal moments from 2018 — and no, we weren’t kidding about those alligators or explosions.

Man rigs explosives to throw off colorful powder, starts forest fire

Video

This gender reveal actually took place in April 2017, but the Border Patrol agent responsible for the stunt made headlines in September 2018 after pleading guilty to the subsequent fire it caused.

Dennis Dickey, 37, of Tucson, admitted to rigging up a target with Tannerite, which was meant to explode in a burst of colorful powder when shot with a rifle. The explosion instead ignited a surrounding area, and spread quickly due to high winds and lower-than-average rainfall. The resulting blaze – known as the Sawmill FIre – took a week to contain and cost the state roughly $8 million in damage.

Dickey was ordered to pay back the money, though his lawyer said the state was only seeking a fraction, as it would otherwise be like getting "blood from a stone."

Brad and Rachael Reed, from Dumas, Texas, enlisted the help of a crop duster when revealing the gender of their unborn child in April.

Brad explained that he and Rachael weren't even going to bother with a big reveal, as this would be their third child, but couldn't resist the idea when their friend David — an aerial crop duster — offered to lend his services.

“It was a nice way to find out for sure,” Rachael said.

Grandpa gets hit in the face with a baseball

Brittany and Max McCauley had planned to reveal the gender of their unborn child with the help of a powder-filled baseball, which Brittany would throw at Max, and Max would smash into oblivion with a baseball bat. But apparently, Max didn't like the first pitch.

In footage of the May incident, the ball sailed over Max's head and struck his father Scott square in the face, covering his dad's head and hair in bright blue powder.

“The moment was just so quick and overwhelming,” Brittany said of the incident, which left Scott with a cut on his forehead. “I felt terrible for hitting him.”

CYCLIST PHOTOBOMBS ENGAGEMENT PICS: 'WHAT IN THE WORLD WAS THIS GUY THINKING?'

Why not have an alligator reveal the news?

Louisiana “Gator King” Mike Kliebert and wife Rebecca Miller invited family and friends over for the reveal, but instead of using balloons or a cake, they used a watermelon and a live 60-year-old alligator named Sally.

In a video the couple posted on Facebook in March, Kliebert is seen wrangling Sally for a few minutes before tossing a small watermelon into the reptile’s waiting jaws. When the gator snaps its mouth on the watermelon and blue goo spills out, onlookers erupt in cheers.

"Best gender reveal we could come up with!" Kliebert captioned the video.

Applebee’s gender reveal ends in chaos

If you have your party at an Applebee's, clean up your confetti.

An October gender-reveal party at an Ohio location ended not with cheer or jubilation, but with partygoers screaming at staff and throwing menus. The manager had reportedly asked the patrons to fire off their confetti poppers outside, but the group reportedly refused to clean up the blue confetti from the parking lot after the party.

The restaurant later called it an "unfortunate incident."

Gender reveal literally backfires

An Australian couple's gender-reveal stunt literally went up in flames in early December.

The couple, from South Australia, had planned to learn the sex of their unborn child with the help of a car and a set of tires, which were rigged to throw off colorful smoke during a burnout. But after rubber started burning and pink smoke started billowing out, the back tires caught fire, and onlookers began screaming.

The local police later condemned the incident and warned community members not to copy the stunt. “It poses a danger to spectators and a real risk of starting a bush fire, which carries severe penalties."

Woman proposes to partner in England’s now-famous plastic supermarket tunnel

This is the moment a woman proposed to her partner in a plastic supermarket tunnel that has become a leading tourist 'attraction' after a social media campaign.

The thoroughfare was originally put up near a Sainsbtunnelury's to keep shoppers dry as they walked to and from their car, but it became an unlikely hit and quickly rose to become the top-rated TripAdvisor attraction in the English town of Bude, Cornwall.

GROOM-TO-BE ACCIDENTALLY KNOCKS GIRLFRIEND TO GROUND DURING PROPOSAL

Recently, it was given a festive makeover with housands of twinkling lights — and now one woman decided it was the perfect place to propose to her partner.

Celina Stone popped the question to her girlfriend, Jade Euden, inside the unlikely tourist attraction.

Celina Stone popped the question to her girlfriend, Jade Euden, both 21, in the festive tunnel, and arranged for a photographer to capture the magical moment.

She described the tunnel as "such a cool place to propose," adding that she was considering her proposal for some time before the tunnel got its festive makeover.

"At first she asked what I was doing, and then I showed her the ring, and her face lit up and she couldn’t believe it," said Stone. (SWNS)

'WING MOM' GOES VIRAL FOR PLAYING SON'S MATCHMAKER AT GROCERY STORE

"At first she asked what I was doing, and then I showed her the ring, and her face lit up and she couldn't believe it," said Stone.

"I asked her if it was a yes and she nodded — I think she was still a bit shocked. And then everyone surrounding us started clapping after I put the ring on her finger and gave her a hug."

The pair, from Launceston, Cornwall, have been in a relationship for about 18 months.

Bude's tunnel, a 70-meter (230-foot) structure, rose to fame after it racked up hundreds of comments on TripAdvisor with the majority rating it "excellent."

People have traveled from all over the country to have their pictures taken in the walkway, and some even compared it to the Sistine Chapel and the ruins of Pompeii.

‘Wing mom’ goes viral for playing son’s matchmaker at grocery store

A mom in Texas acted as the ultimate wingman when she found a date for her single son at the supermarket.

The matchmaking mom was chatting with a group of female college students at H-E-B grocery store in San Antonio when she decided to play Cupid on behalf of her son, Codey Gonzalez.

Charisma Valdez, one of the students who met the mom, said the conversation began innocently.

OLD BAY UPSET ABOUT 'NEW BAE' SEASONING; MAKERS FILE LAWSUIT AGAINST PITTSBURGH COMPANY

"It all started off as just a normal conversation at H-E-B over a puppy. And it kind of just turned into something else," she told KTRK-TV of the unusual encounter.

"We were pretty excited at first because we were talking about puppies, and then once she brought up her son and that whole conversation, we got pretty serious," she added.

Codey's mom Patricia began sharing details about her son with the young women, in the hopes of scoring him a date. And Patricia really made an impression, seeing as Valdez posted about the conversation on Twitter.

The tweet quickly went viral, with over 4,700 retweets and 63,000 likes as of Thursday morning.

Valdez later shared an update on Twitter with a photo of her and Gonzalez on a date, right after he tweeted out that he was “feeling good about date night.”

And apparently, things went well because Valdez shared that a second date was being planned.

Since going viral, the young lovebirds have received offers from restaurants like Whataburger and Raising Cane’s to host them for free.

If things continue going well, Patricia, now dubbed 'Wing mom," might have a future as a matchmaker.

Bridesmaid grimaces at newlyweds’ PDA in hilarious wedding photo

From engagement parties to bachelorette weekends, serious bridal showers and more, members of the wedding party can feel fatigued by the pomp and circumstance before their loved one’s special day even arrives.

Such sentiments perhaps prompted one silly bridesmaid to make her “true” feelings known, as she grimaced as her younger brother kissed his bride in an official portrait taken on their wedding day.

In the funny image, which has since won applause on Twitter, a bridesmaid named Elena openly scowls as her brother, Chris, smooches his new wife Lucy; meanwhile, the other four bridesmaids dutifully beam and look on at the happy couple during the photo shoot, which took place in a field, Metro reports.

WOMAN REUNITED WITH RING SHE LOST IN J.C. PENNEY PARKING LOT: 'GOD WORKS IN MYSTERIOUS WAYS'

“I'm 26 years old, and even at a wedding other peoples' PDA elicits this response from me…” Elena wrote.

All jokes aside, Elena, a writer and social manager from Wiltshire, England, told Metro that she does, in fact, dearly love her brother and her new sister-in-law, and that the funny moment was just a silly outburst.

“Chris and Lucy are a very loving and affectionate couple, but they’re not that prone to kissing a lot in public, and I am an awkward turtle who feels the need to be a tiny bit silly at most opportunities,” she told the outlet. “When the photographer told the bride and groom to kiss I just pulled a daft, spontaneous ‘ew’ face, not realizing she’d started taking photos already.”

“I started smiling like a civilized bridesmaid shortly after. When I saw the photo I was mildly embarrassed, but the bride and groom thought it was a bit funny,” she continued. “It was a moment of silliness rather than some kind of protest; I wasn’t trying to be subversive or ruin anything!”

Elena said that she got the OK from the newlyweds to circulate the image on social media before sharing it there, too.

"I smiled nicely like a civilized human in all of the other photos. I'm not a monster," she soon added on Twitter.

Though the funny picture was a bit of a fluke, and ultimately nothing more than a fresh, funny take on the often exhausting ordeal of wedding party portraits, the sassy bridesmaid’s story struck a chord of resonance with some on the social platform.

Woman reunited with ring she lost in J.C. Penney parking lot: ‘God works in mysterious ways’

Timing is everything, and for two Louisiana women, they say it was God who made their paths cross amid the busy holiday shopping season.

Shirley Ross, from Shreveport, stepped out of her vehicle last Wednesday in the parking lot of J.C. Penney and her heart stopped. She looked down and found a sparkling diamond ring on the ground.

Instead of taking it to the lost and found of the store, Ross felt determined by something inside her to find the owner herself.

The ring belonged to Shelley Wells, also from Shreveport, who said she took it off to put on lotion in her car. Forgetting she took it off, she went about shopping that day, and by the time she realized it was lost, she went back to find it with no avail. So she turned to social media.

At 10:19 pm she posted a picture of the ring with a “special request” to help find the person who found it.

“I lost my 20-year anniversary ring in the parking lot of J.C. Penney,” Wells wrote on Facebook, offering “many blessings for your help!”

Her post was shared more than 3,000 times with people offering their prayers and support, but the woman who found the ring doesn’t have Facebook.

Fortunately, her daughter put a post on the social media platform, coincidentally within a minute after Wells' post.

And the next day Wells confirmed that her ring had been found!

“GOD is soooo GOOD!” she wrote. “I truly have been gifted a Christmas miracle!”

Ross agreed.

“God, he works in mysterious ways,” she told KTAL.

Years ago, Ross lost her wedding ring the same way Wells did, in a parking lot, putting lotion on her hands. Ross never got her ring back, but she considers this as part of her reward.

"I just raised my hand in praise and I just thought isn't this just wonderful," Ross said.

Ariana Grande wants to set the record straight about her current relationship with ex-boyfriend Ricky Alvarez.

As her hit song "Thank U, Next" states, Grande's newest relationship is "gon' last … 'cause her name is Ari." And yes, she's still good with that.

The 25-year-old singer squashed rumors that she's rekindling an old flame — who was also mentioned on her new track — with an Instagram comment Monday. Grande complimented Alvarez's recent Instagram post, calling the colors of his sweater with the background in the picture "sick." Naturally, fans started to read into the social media love.

“WHAT ABOUT YOU AND ARIANA???? WE ALL WANT TO KNOW,” one fan commented on the same post.

"Rickiana would be so iconic," a user echoed.

It appears the pair, who reportedly dated from July 2015 to July 2016, has been friendly with one another lately.

Alvarez posted a video of himself looking disappointed as he listened to Grande's new song. "Wrote some songs about Ricky / Now I listen and laugh," Grande sings as Alvarez paused the video and shot fans a concerned look. In an Instagram story, the singer later clarified the lyric was meant to be taken "lovingly" and jokingly apologized for giving him "the worst line."

The friends were also spotted together in New York City and Alvarez apparently attended Grande's November music video shoot for "Thank U, Next," Us reports.

Woman who claims to have wed 300-year-old pirate ghost now says they split up

A woman who “married” the ghost of 300-year-old pirate has now revealed the couple has split up.

Amanda Sparrow Large, 46, first appeared in the spotlight when she legally married the Haitian pirate by a shaman priest earlier this year.

The 46-year-old was tired of "physical world" men, and consequently found love in the ghost of an 18th century Haitian pirate…until she revealed things didn’t work out for them, reported The Mirror.

The pair got married on a boat off the Irish coast in international waters, reported The Irish Sun.

But now the mum from Drogheda, Co Louth, Ireland, is warning people to be "very careful when dabbling in spirituality".

She said: “So I feel it’s time to let everyone know that my marriage is over.

“I will explain all in due course but for now all I want to say is be VERY careful when dabbling in spirituality, it’s not something to mess with.”

Amanda paid a whopping €6,000 ($6,789 USD) to change her name legally, and worked as  an impersonator of “Pirates of the Caribbean” character Jack Sparrow.

She changed her appearance and had replica tattoos, dreadlocks and gold teeth fitted to look identical to the character.

Before their controversial marriage, Amanda made the headlines for her tips on “having ghost sex" sessions.

She previously claimed that she and 300-year-old ghost Jack went on dates, had rows and even had an active sex life, before their recent divorce.

She said: “Spiritual sex is all about being able to feel the energy. It’s nothing to do with masturbation.

“So although it can be tried from any position, missionary is probably best to start with because it’s easier to feel their weight and take it from there.”

Before their turbulent relationship resulted in a break up, the couple dated for two years before becoming engaged.

Amanda previously gushed about the proposal: “Jack proposed to me. I told him I wasn’t really cool with having casual sex with a spirit and I wanted us to make a proper commitment to each other."

At the wedding, she held a flag bearing a skull and crossbones as a symbol for her husband.

Because Jack couldn't wear his ring, it was fitted to a candle which was used in the wedding ceremony to represent him.

Mom cancels baby shower after family ridicules name choice: ‘He will not be allowed to have a nickname’

A woman has gone viral online for allegedly canceling her baby shower because her family and friends were unsupportive of her choice of baby name: Squire Sebastian Senator.

“Dear Members of the Squire Sebastian Senator Babyshower (sic),” a post on Facebook and shared on Reddit reads. “I have a really important announcement to make. It brings me pain to have to tell you this, but I am cancelling the event.”

The unidentified woman goes on to explain her decision, stating her friends have been spreading “rumors and lies.”

WOMAN CLAIMS 'MARRIAGE SCAM' TRICKED HER INTO MARRYING COMPLETE STRANGER DURING MOCK WEDDING

“Y’all have been talking s— about my unborn baby. AN UNBORN CHILD. How can you judge an unborn child??” the social media post continues.

The mother shares that she was not “crazy,” or “mentally unstable” or “drunk” when she chose the unique three name moniker, which she emphatically points out “is only his first name.”

“He will not be allowed to have a nickname, he is to be called by his full and complete first name,” she writes.

The woman defended her choice, claiming her family is descended from a long line of “both squires and senators.”

“If you look back in our family tree, the survival of this clan is literally rooted in squiredom. We are all related to senators too,” she writes. “This name conveys power. It conveys wealth. It conveys success.”

“My baby’s name WILL be a revolution,” she continued.

A WOMAN MOCKED FOR HER UGLY LEG TAKES REVENGE AND BECOMES A MODEL

The woman concludes her lengthy Facebook rant calling her family “fake” and claiming her name choice will make her son “extraordinary.”

Those on Reddit, where the social media post was shared, were about as kind as the woman claimed her family was. Several on the forum website ridiculed the mother over the name she chose for her unborn child.

“No one's talking s— about your unborn baby. They're talking s— about your poor naming choices,” one person commented.

“This could be the first ever child to run away from home before he's born,” another quipped.

“I'll say the same thing I tell any friend who gets pregnant: before you settle on a name, imagine growing up with it yourself,” a Redditor wrote.

“’Why name your child something boring’ Because I'd like to not damn my unborn kid to school bullying and his job applications going right into the trash,” another said, referencing the woman’s note.

This woman’s unique choice of name would not be the first mocked online. Last month, a mom claimed her daughter, Abcde, was made fun of by a Southwest Airlines gate agent after seeing her ticket.

Canadian man opens up present ex-girlfriend gave him nearly 50 years after she dumped him

A Canadian man held on to a Christmas present his first serious girlfriend gave him in 1971 – but never opened up until now.

Adrian Pearce of Edmonton held on to the small parcel after his heart was broken by Vicki Allen when he was 17 years old, the Canadian Press reported. Allen broke up with Pearce shortly before the Christmas break but gave him the present before parting ways. Pearce recalled taking the present she gave him and throwing it under the Christmas tree without opening it.

Pearce’s present tale went viral last year, but it wasn’t until Thursday when he finally learned what was inside this mysterious package. Allen and Pearce reunited at a bar in St. Albert to discover what could be in there. Allen was also curious to know what was in there. When she was opening up the gift, Allen exclaimed, “Oh no, I can’t give that to him!”

‘BRIDEZILLA’S’ DEMANDING LIST OF WEDDING DRESS CODE REQUIREMENTS GOES VIRAL:  ‘IF YOU LOOK LIKE TRASH, SO WILL WE’

However, Allen pulled off the paper and revealed a book titled, “Love Is…” The book contains comic strips by artist Kim Grove.

“Aw! Look at this!” Pearce said. “And look at the condition it’s in!”

He told CBC News that he was going to frame the present. He said the present reminded him of how innocent he was at age 17.

‘WORLD’S MOST MODIFIED YOUTH’ HAS HAD OVER 40 PROCEDURES TO ‘STAND OUT’

Allen said she was shocked to learn her ex-boyfriend did not open the present after all these years but was glad he finally did.

Pearce went on to marry another woman and have two children but said his family is friends with Allen.

“We’re in a fantastic place where all you can feel is love,” he said.

Cyclist photobombs Kentucky couple’s engagement photos: ‘What in the world was this guy thinking?’

This is the hilarious moment a couple’s perfectly planned proposal photoshoot was ruined when an oblivious cyclist whizzed through the romantic scene.

Blake Martin, 25, spent three months planning the moment he would pop the question to girlfriend Shannon Keene, 24. He picked a scenic spot on a wooden bridge in Cherokee Park in Louisville, Ky., and hired a photographer to capture the proposal on camera.

But just as he got down on one knee to ask the all-important question, an oblivious cyclist in a bright orange jacket whizzed right in front of him.

Martin, a chemical engineering Ph.D. student, said the man apologized quickly before continuing on his way.

MAN PROPOSES WITH SIX RINGS TO LET FIANCE DECIDE WHICH SHE LIKES

The funny moment, from Nov. 9, was captured on camera by photographer Christine Calacsan, a friend of the couple.

"I had been planning this proposal for about three months," said Martin, a Louisville native. "I was extremely nervous. It all happened so fast. I got down on one knee and this orange blur just zipped by and screamed 'Sorry.' It was nuts."

Keene, a law student, said she thought she and Martin were "just going to pose for fun" when they started taking pics.

"We were on this little bridge when Blake asked me to look out over the creek for a photo which I thought was dumb," Keene said. (SWNS)

"We were on this little bridge when Blake asked me to look out over the creek for a photo which I thought was dumb. I did not know why he wanted me to pose on my own during a couple’s photo shoot. When I turned around he was on one knee," she explained. "I was so shocked. He started saying, ‘I love you so much, I want to spend my life with you. Will you marry me?’

"It was at this exact moment this man flies by on a bike so fast I hardly even registered it."

PICS: COUPLE MARRY INSIDE A CALIFORNIA COSTCO

Despite the disruption, Keene, who has been dating Martin for four years, accepted her boyfriend’s sweet proposal.

The couple, who live in Louisville together, said the amusing moment made the proposal even more memorable.

"When we saw the photo we just laughed," Martin said. (SWNS)

"It wasn’t until after we hugged that Christine said, "You won’t believe the photo I got," Keene said. "When we saw it we both cracked up. It was a good reminder that you shouldn’t take things too seriously."

As Martin added, "Afterwards I was like, 'What in the world was this guy thinking?' When we saw the photo we just laughed. It made the proposal so much more special because it was unique."
