Meghan Markle cradled her baby bump and showed off her calligraphy skills during a visit to a nursing home in her last royal public appearance before Christmas.

The 37-year-old Duchess of Sussex chatted with residents at the Royal Variety residential nursing and care home Brinsworth House in Twickenham, England, on Tuesday.

"The Royal Variety Charity, of which The Queen is Patron, assists those who have worked professionally in the entertainment industry and are in need of help and assistance as a result of old age, ill-health, or hard times," Kensington Palace wrote in a tweet.

It was a fitting assignment for Markle, who starred on "Suits" and was a briefcase girl on "Deal or No Deal" before marrying Prince Harry in May 2018.

The Duchess told one resident that she's doing "very good … very pregnant."

Markle made Christmas ornaments with residents and flaunted the calligraphy skills she used while she worked at Paper Source before her acting career took off.

The visit comes after Markle's appearance at the British Fashion Awards, where the Duchess received backlash for her habit of cradling her baby bump.

Markle and Prince Harry announced in October that they're expecting their first child.

The baby is due in spring 2019.

Meghan Markle’s half-sister Samantha Markle slams royal Christmas card

Meghan Markle’s half-sister slammed the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s Christmas card, which featured the backs of the royal couple as they watched fireworks on their wedding day.

Samantha Markle criticized the Christmas card pointing out it was the only photo among those released not showing the faces of the royals, E! News reported. The never-before-seen photo was taken the night of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s nuptials in May.

"Interesting that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have their backs turned. Is this towards the world or just the Ragland and Markle family? It's a bit sad. Face the Christmas spirit,” Samantha Markle tweeted through her private Twitter account shortly after the photos were released.

The palace released the official Christmas cards on Friday.

MEGHAN MARKLE’S HALF-SISTER SAMANTHA CLAIMS DUCHESS OF SUSSEX LIED IN UNIVERSITY SPEECH

Prince William and Kate Middleton were pictured with their three children — George, Charlotte and Louis — posing by a tree. Prince Charles and Camilla Bowles’ card showed them sitting on a bench while they gazed into each other’s eyes.

Markle continued her tirade against her half-sister on Saturday, calling the Christmas card “incredibly rude.”

"It's incredibly rude to turn your back in a Christmas photo that is meant to share warmth and good wishes with the world. Those that criticize me for pointing out the truth, need to get that brown stuff off their noses. I hear the worlds smallest violin playing,” she wrote on Twitter.

MEGHAN MARKLE'S HALF-SISTER SAMANTHA WANTS DUCHESS TO BE 'HAPPY,' URGES ROYAL TO INCLUDE DAD IN HER PREGNANCY

She said in another tweet, “If you want to be private you don't do it on a Christmas card but the world sees. That's like saying merry Christmas look at my butt.”

Markle returned to criticizing the duchess two months after attempting to extend an olive branch. Markle told The Sun in October, shortly after Meghan Markle’s pregnancy announcement, that “a baby changes everything” and she wants her sister “to be happy.”

“It just makes everything that happened over the last year disappear. I want Meghan to be happy and calm and have peace. Everybody needs to be positive,” Markle told The Sun. “I would hope that — for the sake of the baby, the family, the world and my dad — that leaving him out of the statement was not intentional.”

But later that month, Markle claimed the duchess lied in her speech in Fiji when she said she paid her way through college with the help of scholarships and financial aid programs.

Meghan Markle, Prince Harry reportedly planning to travel to U.S. after birth of their baby, royal expert says

Meghan Markle is making plans to return to her home country as a new mom.

The 37-year-old Duchess of Sussex is currently expecting her first child with husband Prince Harry and is due next spring. Royal expert Katie Nicholl tells ET that a possible fall tour in 2019 of the U.S. and Canada for Meghan, Harry and their new baby is in the “very early” stages of planning.

Meghan was, of course, born and raised in Los Angeles and lived in Canada while she was filming Suits, which is where she met Harry.

And the former actress has already proven that she can handle a busy tour. In October, she completed her first-ever official royal tour with Harry like a pro — visiting Australia, Fiji, Tonga and New Zealand — where the couple created plenty of memorable PDA moments and met adoring fans along the way.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's Holiday Card Is a Never-Before-Seen Pic From Their Wedding

As for the couple's more immediate holiday plans, Nicholl recently told ET that despite reports of tension between Meghan, Harry, Prince William and Kate Middleton, the four will definitely be together.

"The four of them will be at Sandringham for Christmas Day, hosted by the queen, but of course, the queen and her family, perhaps, in many ways, is no different than other families — there are feuds, there are rifts," Nicholl said. "For Christmas Day at least, William and Harry are going to have to bury the hatchet, put a few wobbles behind them. It's not like they're not talking –they're still incredibly close as brothers – [but] there have been fallouts, there has been tension.

Prince Harry Still Has Tension With Prince William Over Meghan Markle

"Christmas is a good time for goodwill and forgiveness, so let's hope we see the princes do just that," she added.

Earlier this month, a royal source told ET that "tension does still exist" between the royal brothers after William originally voiced his "concerns" about Meghan when she first started dating Harry. According to the source, the conversation didn't go over well with Harry, and they still have "not mended completely."

Meghan Markle Speaks at Event Honoring Prince Harry’s Late Friend, Flashes Growing Baby Bump

"Other members of the royal family also expressed their unease about their relationship, but Harry was steadfast and absolutely besotted with Meghan," the source added.

Meghan Markle inspires Prince Harry to opt out of decades-old royal holiday tradition: report

Prince Harry is reportedly choosing not to participate in a decades-old holiday tradition with his brother Prince William this year as a sign of respect to his new bride Meghan Markle.

The 34-year-old royal is skipping his family's annual Boxing Day pheasant shoot — something he has done for at least 20 years — because of Markle's love of animals, according to the Daily Mail. Markle has apparently always been passionate about wildlife and does not support hunting.

In May, PETA praised Markle, 37, for her vegan-friendly lifestyle, including her opposition to fur and leather.

MEGHAN MARKLE TO PARTICIPATE IN ROYAL HOLIDAY TRADITIONS: 5 BIZARRE CUSTOMS OF THE BRITISH MONARCHY

"By choosing to oppose fur and leather, Markle is actively helping to stop the global skins trade. Whether it came from an animal on a fur farm or one who was trapped in the wild, every fur coat, trinket, and bit of trim caused an animal tremendous suffering — and took away a life," PETA wrote in a blog post.

Harry allegedly skipped last year's hunt as well because of Markle.

“He hardly ever misses the shoot but he loves her so much," a royal insider told the Mirror, adding it looks like Harry's "shooting days are over."

"She’s a keen animal lover and likes to eat vegan during the week and she has a strict no-fur policy. She has also been encouraging Harry to eat less meat and more fruit and veg and is now keen to fully convert him to her views on hunting," another source added to the British tabloid.

KENSINGTON PALACE ISSUES RARE STATEMEnT AFTER MEGHAN MARKLE, KATE MIDDLETON FEUD REPORT

Sources say it's just the latest example that proves the brothers are "drifting" apart, despite the palace's recent denial of any problems between the royal families.

In early December, Kensington Palace issued a rare statement shutting down a report in The Sun about an alleged argument between Markle and Kate Middleton.

"This never happened," a Kensington Palace spokesman said in response.

While Harry may skip the traditional hunt, the pair is still expected to participate in a handful of other royal holiday traditions — such as stepping on the scale after eating Christmas dinner and swapping funny gag gifts on Christmas Eve.

"The royals are of German descent so they weave in German traditions to their celebrations," former royal chef Darren McGrady previously told Express, noting Germans typically open presents on Dec. 24. "After afternoon tea, they open gifts on Christmas Eve, as is the German tradition."

Meghan Markle ‘fed up’ with Kate Middleton feud rumors: report

Meghan Markle is finding it “frustrating and stressful” that she has “no voice” against a barrage of bad headlines, a new report has claimed.

The pregnant Duchess of Sussex is said to be “fed up” that royal protocol means she isn’t allowed to “stand up for herself”, US Weekly reports.

Since it was announced she and Prince Harry were moving out of Kensington Palace, multiple reports have claimed Meghan is responsible for a rift between the two brothers and had been “demanding” towards staff.

Apart from denying that Kate reprimanded Meghan for giving out to her staff, Kensington Palace has refused to comment on mounting reports of a division between the Cambridges and Sussexes.

That Meghan can’t stand up for herself using social media has proved frustrating and has left Harry feeling the pressure too, US Weekly claims.

“She’s always relied on her own voice to stand up for others, and for herself. So not being able to say anything is a debilitating feeling,” a source told the magazine.

“She’s always been so independent, her entire life, and that’s all been taken away from her. She’s always been able to clap back on social media and now she can’t.”

In the months before her marriage to Harry, Meghan shut down her Instagram and Twitter, with Hello! magazine reporting working royals aren’t allowed to have their own social media accounts.

But minor non-working royals are permitted to have them, with Princess Eugenie opening a public Instagram account this year.

Before her relationship with Harry Meghan was an avid social media user, posting on everything from politics to glamorous overseas holidays.

Earlier this week, a candid boomerang-style post of Meghan at the British Fashion Awards was mysteriously wiped from Instagram.

A photo of Meghan at the awards posted by her best friend and stylist Jessica Mulroney was also deleted.

Meghan Markle, Prince Harry, Prince William and Kate Middleton debut Christmas card photos

‘Tis the season for Christmas card photos and the British royals did not disappoint.

The Kensington Palace released a black and white photo of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle on their wedding day. The shot, taken from behind, shows the couple staring at a full sky of fireworks.

“The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are delighted to share a new photograph from their Wedding Reception at Frogmore House on 19th May,” the Kensington Palace tweeted Friday. “The photograph, which features on Their Royal Highnesses’ Christmas card, was taken by photographer Chris Allerton.”

Markle was wearing her Stella McCartney reception dress in the photo while cradling her arm around her husband’s waist. The couple is expecting their first child in the spring.

Meanwhile, the palace tweeted the adorable family photo of Kate Middleton, Prince William, with their children; George, Charlotte and Louis. The family is casually posing on a tree branch on a sunny day.

“The photograph, taken by Matt Porteous, shows The Duke and Duchess with their three children at Anmer Hall, and features on Their Royal Highness’ Christmas card this year,” the Kensington Palace tweeted.

On Christmas, the British royals will spend the day at Sandringham Estate in Norfolk, United Kingdom, with Queen Elizabeth II, People reported.

Meghan Markle is loving her baby bump. So what?

As soon as photos appeared online of Meghan Markle glammed up for an awards ceremony in Britain, I clicked on those shots, along with millions of others. Checking out photos of pregnant royals never really gets old. I thought she looked beautiful, glowing as only a pregnant woman does. But others who scrolled through those same photos thought much differently, hammering away on their opinion that it’s really weird to put both hands on her baby bump, that Meghan was doing something very “creepy”, and suggesting she learn from her sister-in-law, Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, on how to pose properly in public when pregnant.

Regina George has nothing on these trolls.

'Meghan we know you are pregnant. You can stop holding onto the bump with both hands now. It won’t fall off', was one response on Twitter.

So what if Meghan feels like constantly touching her growing belly? Who cares. She is growing a new human being inside her and perhaps she’s just enjoying that fact and relishing the intimacy she can share with her baby for these short months.

I constantly had my hands on my baby bump when I was pregnant. It was so cool to be able to feel my growing baby, to experience something totally new and unexpected, and to nurture the budding maternal feelings I had. I never thought about it or really what others would think either. Unfortunately, Meghan does not have that same freedom.

I see the same gestures from pregnant women – they almost always have their hands on their belly, even women who have multiple kids and are no strangers to being pregnant. Women’s bodies are just that amazing.

Studies show that growing babies can feel their mother’s touch, contributing to bonding with mom. One study in Scotland found that fetuses respond more powerfully to touch than sound, moving around more when they felt their mother touch her stomach. Touching their baby bumps can also help mothers relax and experience a surge of the feel-good hormone oxytocin.

Meghan Markle isn’t the only celebrity to be criticized for touching her baby bump in public. Khloe Kardashian shot back at her own trolls when they lashed out at her always being photographed holding her baby bump: “I’ve waited for this VERY short moment for YEARS. I have only months to enjoy this phase in my life, so I will touch my bump and love my bump as often as I choose.”

Perfect response, Khloe.

Meghan is in her late 30s, an age where getting pregnant and having a boatload of kids becomes harder. It’s really no surprise she’s being extra attentive during her pregnancy. As someone who has struggled with infertility and is about the same age as Meghan, if I were pregnant again, every second of that pregnancy would be a belly-rubbing lovefest.

I think Meghan looks gorgeous and that she should hold her belly as much she wants and enjoy this special time in her life. It will pass quickly and these moments of being pregnant and bonding with her child in this unique way will be over.

Meghan Markle’s baby bump cradling sparks Twitter backlash

Meghan Markle sparked a global debate about baby bump cradling after her surprise appearance at the British Fashion Awards this week.

The Duchess of Sussex, 37, posed in a way at the style-centered event that some interpreted as hammy and others as maternal, as she presented an award to her wedding dress designer, Givenchy artistic director Clare Waight Keller.

"Cupping the bump? WHOB DOES THIS? #MeghanMarkle who the hell does she think she is Madonna and child? Something VERY creepy going on in this woman's head," one user wrote.

"#MeghanMarkle holding on to that bump like someone’s about to snatch it," another quipped.

"Seriously, no pregnant woman poses for photo like this. Ever. She's such an actress. #MeghanMarkle #duchessofsussex #BritishFashionAwards #actingup," another wrote, adding, "Especially when you're a royalty [sic] … She should learn from Kate on how to pose regally when pregnant. Both hands discretely [sic] under the bump. Not cradling like Demi Moore. #Crasspregnancy #MeghanMarkle."

Others were equally critical:

Others simply pointed out the absurdity of both the pose and the obsession with it, including an account dubbed @MarkleBabyBump.

Others defended the former "Suits" starlet, pointing out that pregnancy is inherently uncomfortable and that there's nothing wrong with cradling the tiny, living human being in her body.

Her bump wasn't the only controversial aspect of Markle's appearance at the BFAs: She also broke royal protocol with her dark manicure.

Prince William says 5-year-old son Prince George ‘knows I’m useless’ at arts and crafts

When it comes to arts and crafts projects, Prince George knows that his dad is probably not the best parent to ask.

Following an event at the Evelina London Children’s Hospital on Tuesday, Prince William and Kate Middleton visited the Passage homeless center, where they helped the charity prepare for its Christmas party next week, according to People magazine.

Per the outlet, the Duke of Cambridge, 36, was tasked with helping make a “Welcome to Xmas Dinner” sign and given the letter "E" to cut out.

"My son knows I’m useless at this," William said, noting that his wife "is the artsy one."

For her part, the Duchess of Cambridge, 36, focused her efforts on helping make beaded bracelets.

"[Princess Charlotte] would love making these," Middleton revealed of the couple's 3-year-old daughter.

In addition to their official engagements, the royal couple — who are also parents to 7-month-old son Prince Louis — hosted a celebration last week for the families of servicemen and women who'd spend the holidays serving overseas.

Meghan Markle breaks royal tradition again at British Fashion Awards

Meghan Markle made a surprise appearance at the British Fashion Awards on Monday wearing a sleek one-shoulder black Givenchy dress — but it was her nail color that made headlines.

The Duchess of Sussex appeared at the awards show to present her wedding dress designer and Givenchy’s artistic director, Clare Waight Keller, the British Womenswear Designer of the Year award. Markle styled her baby bump-hugging velvet black dress with gold bracelets, metallic Tamara Mellon sandals and dark nail polish.

Her dark-colored nails caught many people’s attention because, although it’s not an official protocol, it’s widely known Queen Elizabeth II does not approve of colorful nail polish on members of the royal family, U.K.’s OK! Magazine previously reported.

Fake or colored nails are reportedly seen as “vulgar” in the royal family and wearing a more neutral shade is part of the royal etiquette.

Essie revealed the queen’s hairdresser sent the nail polish brand a letter in 1989 requesting the shade “Ballet Slippers,” a pale pink color with a sheer finish.

“[It’s] the only color Her Majesty would wear,” the brand stated.

MEGHAN MARKLE BREAKS ROYAL PROTOCOL: ALL THE TIMES SHE'S BROKEN THE RULES

Aside from the occasional red nail polish on her toes, Kate Middleton is usually seen donning neutral nail shades, following the unofficial protocol that’s been put in place.

Markle is known to make bold fashion choices that do not follow the royal protocol. She made headlines last November when she and Prince Harry stepped out for a photocall following their engagement announcement and was seen without nude tights. The royal family has a policy of women wearing pantyhose at official engagements.

“I would say that’s really the only hard, steadfast rule in terms of what the queen requires,” royal expert Victoria Arbiter said.

The Duchess of Sussex was first spotted with pantyhose at a party for Prince Charles’ 70th birthday in May, just days after she tied the knot.

Markle also broke royal protocol when she wore a Carolina Herrera dress that exposed her shoulders at her first Trooping the Colour. The tradition is for royal members to wear dresses that cover their shoulders.
